Top:

Salesman's Sample/Model Club Chair - Green . In the style of Thomas Molesworth, but showing turned larchwood. Leatherette covering in green vareigated leatherette, with blue back, red piping and woven tape trim. Complete with furniture tacks and cushion tack with button. This one has atag stating that it was purchased at the Hiscock Studios. Hiscockwas a photographer from Cody, Wyoming, who no doubt sold these cute little chairs to tourists, capitalizing on the fame of Cody neighbor Thomas Molesworth. According to Marc Taggart, noted Molesworth expert, Molesworth was influenced by, and sometimes even ordered parts from, the Midwestern furniture makers who probably made these chairs. 8" by 7" by 7.5".

Steer's Leg Pocket Knife

Circa: 1865

This very cool leg knife was manufactured by Peters Bros. Celebrated Cutlery, circa 1865. It's possible this knife came from Solingen, Germany. The Peters Bros. made cutlery under their name between 1876-1886. Made from horn, it sports a corkscrew and large knife blade. Horn is carved like the leg of a steer. A terrific collector's item.

Chicago Stockyard Tally Book

Circa: 1930


Tally Books were used by people who were either selling or buying cattle. They used these handy books to help them record information about cattle they were buying, looking at or what other stock was going for. There were always plenty of cometing stockyard lots. Many would print these books up and use them as promotional items for their company. Tally books are quite collectible, since they often hold notes which reflect a stockman's thoughts from a bygone era. This one is in relatively good condition, with a few pages torn towards the back.

Circa: 1890


Wonderful old snuff box, of Northwest Coast origin. Carved in the shape of a frog, with an ingenious little lid that lifts, opening the back of the frog to reveal a compartment for snuff. Made of horn - possibly mountain goat.

Horn Powder Measure

Circa: 1850

The tip of a longhorn steer's horn was hollowed out to form a type of scoop for measuring gun powder or perhaps some other item. Old leather thong is attached.

Souvenir Mug

Circa: 1900-1910

Early souvenir mug with a Native American image on the front, possibly a souvenir from the Black Hills area, circa 1900-1910. Use this piece for keeping small office items such as paper clips, or perhaps a delicate arrangement of flowers.

Antler Corkscrew

Circa: 1890


Very old fashioned, with the antler tip carved into an Eagle's head and beak and hand-twisted screw. Circa 1890. 5.5" x 4.5".

Bullet Watch Fob

Circa: 1900

Watch fob in the form of a bullet, with brass shell and nickel head. It pulls apart to reveal tiny blue glass dice. A great piece, on an old strap with a brass buckle.

Watch fob of leather holster, with removable lead or pot metal gun. Circa 1930. Strap is broken at the fold, but is original. 5.25" long.

Bear Matchsafe

Circa: 1890

Clever table top match safe of a bear hugging a tree trunk, made from metal, probably spelter or such. His head opens to reveal the matches stored in his body. The tree trunk has a hole at the top where the user inserts the lit match, and all can light their cigars or cigarettes from the little torch. With glass eyes, this piece is probably European-made. 3" high (not including match!) 2 1/4" wide, 1 1/2" deep.

Pheasant Matchsafe

Circa: 1890

This match safe features pheasants on one side and two bird dogs with a hunter on the other. Nice detailed work on both sides.

Moose Matchsafe

Circa: 1920

Nickel match safe with a big bull moose walking through the woods on one side; a hunter with his dog have an animal (Possum?) treed on the other side. Some copper showing through the nickel from use, but in very nice shape. Moose themes are hard to find.

Elk Matchsafe

Circa: 1904

Great older match safe with a 6-point elk on one side. There is also a cigar cutter on the bottom of case which makes it highly collectible.

Fish Matchsafe

Circa: 1904

Silver-plated nickel match safe in great condition, with a little loss of exterior metal from rubbing on the lower corners. This safe has an unusual raised image of fishermen in a canoe, with a large fish hooked. On the reverse, there is a clear celluloid cover over the advertisement from the Gilman Bar, Portland, Ore. 2 2/3" high and 1.5" wide.

Cowboy Match Safe

This matchsafe was undoubtedly appreciated since it is well used. However, it still retains it's nickel plating and has wonderful image definition of a cowboy working with bison on one side and nice overlaid scrolling on the reverse side. H: 2 3/4"; W: 1 1/2"

Blue Spittoon Flask

Circa: 1880-90

Eye-catching pocket spittoon from Germany, made from cobalt blue glass, with a nickel pop-open lid, and nickel drain cap. These are very rare and collectible saloon items. 4.25" long, 2" wide, and 1 1/2" deep.

Circa: 1890

Another, larger pocket spittoon, also quite rare. Blue glass, with zinc screw on top and drain. This one is 4.25" high, 2.75" wide, and 1.75" deep. Un-marked.

Ceramic Horsehead Shot Pourer

Circa: 1900

This shot pourer added a little more class to a typical bar-room bottle of whiskey. The liquid flows from the horse's mouth. White ceramic head, cork middle and ceramic tip. Painted black eyes. Circa 1900.

Engraved Lipstick Case

Circa: 1950

Sterling silver engraved vintage lipstick case. The entire case is made of solid sterling and pulls apart to hold one lipstick tube. One side of the case pulls up to reveal a tiny mirror to aid in applying the lipstick. Entire case is adorned with floral engraving and a small round red glass which hold the case together. Case measures 2 1/4" long.
