Klagetoh Rug

Circa 1910

In stellar condition, this large rug begins with a cream background and bold designs in black, red, gray and gold. Keyed out to each end from a central diamond, with a stylized cloud and lightening at each end. In addition, there are more diamond motifs on each side. This is a great piece.

Size: 6 ft. x 3 1/2 ft W

Price: $3,000.00

Four Bar Single Saddle Blanket

Circa 1940

Hard to find Navajo single saddle blanket with a brand in each back corner. Probably from the Teec Nos Pos area. Brand is represented differently in each corner, probably because the weaver was unfamiliar with the way it should read, but our best guess is to read it as "Four Bar". Boldly striped in orange, black, cream, red and gray, with the brand in black and orange. 32" x 34". Desirable.

Price: $1,875.00

Navajo Double Saddle Blanket

Circa 1900-1910

Nice Navajo double saddle blanket of natural tan, brown and white, with a border of stylized Maltese crosses. The ends have brown crosses with white outlines while the center has white crosses with brown outlines. Remnants of red corner tassels remain. Probably made for the cowboy trade. 55" long x 37.5" wide with some variation in width.

Price: $5,500.00

Navajo Single Saddle Blanket

Circa 1930

Navajo saddle blanket with an interesting double diamond design in red, black, pumpkin, gold, dark gray and light gray, against a light gray background. Corner and side elements in red balance the piece. Size: 30" wide and 31" long.

Price: $1,200.00

Teec Nos Pos Double Saddle Blanket

Circa 1900

Teec Nos Pos textiles utilize bold intricate geometric designs which are saturated with color. Teec Nos Pos weavers often weave larger works than their Navajo neighbors, and generally compose symmetrical designs and a complex design system of outlined images.

This early blanket is no exception. Woven in a combination of Germantown and homespun yarns. A wide naturally dyed border in soft brown has the four directions in black, white, red, and pumpkin on each side and on the ends. Compatible elements run between the four directions in the same four colors, and with green and gray. The corners are gray, with contrasting elements on each end. The centers of each half are an open white field. This is a great piece with a lot going on. Size: 54" L x 36" W.

Navajo Wedding Baskets
Circa 1940

Navajo Baskets commonly known as a wedding baskets, these were also used for some other ceremonies. The break in the pattern is called the "Shipapu" and was the path or means of communication between the lower or ancestral worlds of the Navajo and the present world. It was always supposed to face east, so the outside coil always ends in the same place. In this manner, the user could, by feel, orient the basket properly. The bigger baskets retain remnants of sacred corn meal from the wedding ceremony. Largest basket is 13 1/4" in diameter, with an original muslin hanger, second largest is 12" diameter and the miniature one is 4 3/8". Each is sold seperately.
