White Wooly Batwing Chaps by Al Furstnow

Circa 1910

The high point of these woolies is not just the fine angora wool, or the excellent condition they're in. It's the fact that Batwing Wooly Chaps, which are rare, much less made with white angora wool. They are highly prized by collectors because of their showy appearance. These woolies were made by Al Furstnow, Miles City, MT.

Red White and Blue Woolies

Circa 1900

Cowboys who were performers in Wild West Shows or rodeo were partial to highly colored outfits. The more colorful they were, the better to be seen and noticed. The colors of these rare chaps have mellowed over the last 100 years. Nevertheless, they are in excellent condition with no dry rot in the wool. Made by Al Furstnow of Miles City, Montana.

Wooly Chaps

Circa 1900-1920

Great dark brown angora shotgun-style chaps circa early 1900's. These are very faintly marked "Snyder & Miller", a Grangeville, Idaho saddlery that was only in business from 1900-1920. They were clearly well-used by a cowboy, but the angora is in remarkably good condition. Lined with the old cotton canvas that shows old repairs in several spots. The belt is stamped with a geometric pattern, quarter moons on each side and the initials "PPP" on one side. Fabulous pair.

Navajo Chaps
Circa 1930

Great Navajo chaps circa 1930's made for a trading post operator by Jimmy Begay. Chaps are black leather with white leatherette edging, and have 3 different types of conchos: nickel with white strings, beautiful stamped Navajo conchos with turquoise, and Navajo folk art copper steer heads that are hand-cut. These come with copy of a photograph of the trading post operator wearing them. Please note that the belt is fragile and has been broken and repaired at one time.
